Join One of the Chapter Committees

Are you interested in helping grow AFP-IN Michiana?  We need dedicated fundraising professionals to actively participate in our committees. We have a number of committees dedicate to fulfilling our mission. Whether you have skills to share or you wish to learn new ones, you are invited to join us!

 

 

Program Committee

Chair: Christina McGovern, christina.mcgovern@ysbsjc.org

Purpose: The AFP Michiana’s Program Committee guides the development of enriching and diverse educational programming. This can include roundtables, monthly speaker sessions, webinars, and CFRE programs.


Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Conduct an annual needs assessment of what the Chapter’s stakeholders need and want to learn

  • Identify the learning objectives for each potential program

  • Select qualified presenters

  • Develop enriching and diverse programming, including monthly speaker sessions and webinars

  • Conduct evaluations for each program

  • Develop program budget

  • Secure meeting facility

  • Provide the Communications Committee with the information to market the program

  • Manage the registration process

  • Determine the program agenda

 

Communications Committee Description

Chair: Eileen Toney, purplecow1159@gmail.com

Purpose: To reinforce and enhance the chapter’s stature as the leading voice on fundraising. In addition, the committee will create an environment that promotes the chapter’s steady growth and retention while improving the public perception and understanding of fundraising and philanthropy.


Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and aids the development and delivery of internal and external communications strategies and vehicles.

  • Creates an increased value of the chapter website and newsletter.

  • Articulates member’s value through creating messaging including talking points and leave behinds for all chapter member events.

  • Enhances Chapter Volunteer opportunities to engage to participate in Chapter events and activities.

  • Positions the chapter’s role in growing philanthropy in our community that enables greater, more strategic private sector partnerships.

    o Social Media
    o Photography

o Media Releases



Finance Committee Description

 Chair: Aaron Bradford, aaron.bradford@bethelcollege.edu

Purpose: This committee helps provide for fiscal oversight and recommednations for financial policies, goals, and budgets for the chapter, as well as the monitoring the financial performance of the chapter.

 

Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Chapter on the Chapter’s financial performance.

  • Recommends policies that will ensure long-range financial stability.

  • Counsels other committees on matters that have financial impact.

  • Monitors financial and investment performance.

  • Performs other duties in connection with the finances of the Chapter as determined by the board.

  • Provides leadership in the development of the Chapter's annual budget.




Membership Committee

Chair: Cyndy Searfoss, searfossc@centerforhospice.org

Purpose: This committee helps to recruit and cultivate new members. Come join us if you want to help make our Chapter a robust community of fundraisers and nonprofit professionals.


Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Develops innovative member recruitment and retention strategies.

  • Develops mechanisms to measure chapter member satisfaction.

  • Creates networking opportunities for members and non-members.

  • Membership sub-committees:

    • Mentoring Sub-Committee

    • Networking Sub- Committee

    • Welcome Sub- Committee
